Students training

Before the symposium (5 – 6 Oct 2019) training for undergraduate, MSc, and PhD students and lecturers will be organized at Addis Ababa University (AAU). In the following, we are providing the provisional content of the course. The final one will be announced by the end of 2018.

      Day 1 (5 Oct, 09:00 – 13:00):

            – How to prepare your CV, motivation letter, research proposal

            – How to write and give a presentation

            – How to write a research paper

      Day 1 (5 Oct, 14:00 – 18:00):

            – Statistical data analysis, interpretation, and presentation

      Day 2 (6 Oct, 09:00 – 13:00, 14:00 – 18:00):

            – Programing in python (for 2 groups)

                        group 1 – Introduction to python

                        group 2 – Statistical data analysis and presentation using python

Please take a note that the content of the course is still not definitive and can suffer soem changes in future.

Teachers training

After the symposium (12 – 13 Oct 2019) we will organize under the NASE a training for secondary school teachers. NASE is one of working groups of the IAU Commission C1, and has the main goal to teach teachers astronomy and to teach teachers how to teach astronomy. During the training, teachers will gain theoretical and practical skills. Using recycled and cheap materials they will learn how to make experiments with their pupils and to explain different physical and astrophysical processes.
